Our cabinets are built from one of our standard wood species, combined with one of our door styles, and then stained and finished with one of our specialty finishes to create truly stunning and unique products. Alternatively, we can match or create any color that you desire in our local factory to create your unique finished product.
Wood Species
Choose from over 11 different wood species. Our highly requested species are briefly summarized below:
Oak
Oak is tan to reddish brown in color. Red oak is a strong wood used for its natural beauty of open grain, mineral streaks, wormholes and knots, which are all considered “the fingerprints of nature.”
Pine
Pine is off-white to yellow to orange brown in color. Pine is a naturally soft wood enhanced by knots throughout its grain.
Birch
Birch is off-white to light brown in color. Birch is a subtle grained species of wood that is very smooth in texture and light in color. Color variations, knots, bird's-eyes (small black dots) and wormholes give this species character.
Hickory
Hickory is off-white to gray to dark brown in color. The most unique feature of hickory is its wide color variation. This is commonly known as a "Zebra-stripe" effect. Knots and wormholes bring additional life to this particularly strong and closed-grained wood species.
Beech
Beech varies in color, ranging anywhere from white with a red tinge or may be light to dark reddish brown. It is generally a straight-grained wood with a close uniform texture. Beech takes color and stain easily and also looks good in its natural color.
Silver Maple
Silver Maple is off-white to grayish white in color. Silver Maple is naturally straight-grained and smooth in texture but may have sugar streaks, occasional mineral and pin knots or sometimes curly grain marks that give the wood character.
Maple
Maple is off-white to light brown in color. Much like birch, maple is a subtle-grained wood that is smooth in texture and light in color. Curly grain, sugar streaks and bird's-eyes are examples of what you see when looking at a maple door.
Alder
Alder is light brown or pale yellow to medium reddish brown. Alder is somewhat uniform in color throughout and is fairly straight-grained with a uniform texture. It has an appearance similar to cherry wood.
Cherry
Cherry has a pink to reddish brown to deep red color. Cherry is a strong wood with an open grain, characterized by knots, mineral streaks and color variation. The more natural light received by this wood, the darker it becomes.
Walnut
Walnut has variances of light and dark areas in the wood. Darker stains tend to disguise this characteristic more than lighter stains. Natural changes in color from the original color occur in as short as 6 to 12 months. The color change varies depending on the light of each individual area.
Bamboo
Bamboo is tan to brown in color. Bamboo is an Environmentally Preferred Product. It has a tight-grained appearance with narrow staves, scattered color, specks and nodes, which give this wood its distinct look.
